Stevenson Bell Consultancy Limited (“Stevenson Bell”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal information described on this page. This policy explains what we collect through this website, why, and the rights you have over it. It covers this website only — personal data we handle in the course of a client appointment is instead governed by the terms agreed for that engagement.
Information we collect
We collect personal information only when you choose to give it to us — principally by using the enquiry form on our Contact page or by emailing us directly. This may include your name, company, email address, phone number, project location, and any details about your project you choose to share in your message. We do not use cookies, analytics or any other tracking technology on this website, so we do not collect information about how you browse it.
How the enquiry form works. The form on our Contact page currently opens your own email client, addressed to us, rather than submitting directly to a server we control. This means the information you enter is sent from your device using your own email account, in the same way as if you had emailed us directly — it does not pass through or get stored on any Stevenson Bell web server or database.
How we use your information
We use the information you send us to respond to your enquiry, discuss a potential project, and, where an instruction proceeds, to set up and administer that appointment. We do not use it for marketing without your separate consent, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Our legal basis
We rely on legitimate interests (responding to enquiries you have chosen to make) and, where an appointment proceeds, on the steps necessary to enter into and perform that contract. Where we ask for consent for any other purpose, you can withdraw it at any time.
Sharing your information
We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Where a project requires input from a named consultant or specialist we have engaged, we share only what is necessary for that purpose, and only with people bound by confidentiality. We may also disclose information where required by law.
How long we keep your information
We keep enquiry and project correspondence for as long as is reasonably necessary to handle the matter and to meet our professional, contractual and legal record-keeping obligations, after which it is deleted or archived securely.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to ask us to delete it, to restrict or object to certain uses, and to receive it in a portable format, subject in each case to the usual legal exceptions. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Keeping your information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us against unauthorised access, loss or misuse, proportionate to its sensitivity.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the website and our data-handling practices develop — for example, once the enquiry form submits directly rather than via email, or if we introduce analytics or cookies. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date above.
