Decarbonisation advice is only useful if it survives the building it is given about. We assess the full range of options — heat pumps, hybrid systems, heat networks, high-efficiency replacement of existing gas plant, fabric measures, controls and metering — against capital cost, available electrical capacity, plant space, disruption, operating cost and the client’s asset plan. The recommendation follows the evidence, not a preferred technology.

Options appraisal before commitment

Each viable route is priced, sized and sequenced so the client can see the trade-offs, including the honest case for retaining or replacing gas plant where electrification cannot yet be funded, powered or physically accommodated.

Capacity and space are the real constraints

Incoming supply, distribution capacity, riser space and plant room footprint decide what is possible long before the specification does. We establish those limits first, so strategies are not written against a building that cannot take them.

Staged pathways, not single events

Most estates decarbonise across several budget cycles and asset replacement points. We set out a route with defined trigger points, so each capital decision moves the asset forward instead of locking in the wrong plant for twenty years.

Performance is proven, not predicted

Efficient systems only deliver if they are commissioned, controlled and metered properly. We programme commissioning, witnessing and seasonal validation so modelled savings can be evidenced in use.

We are engineers and surveyors, not campaigners. The most sustainable specification is the one that gets funded, installed correctly and operated as intended for decades — and saying so plainly is part of the advice.
